Make North Cornwall your playground: get away on a classic beachside holiday with the whole family.
Enjoy the kind of break that memories are made of, as you spend time together without everyday distractions. Splash in the sea, climb over rocks and get up-close, personal (and maybe even a bit grubby) with nature. Our local area is truly special, and we believe that’s why so many of our families return year after year.
On sunny days, the beach is a number one choice for relaxed family outings. Polzeath Beach has seasonal lifeguard cover, a car park, toilets and café, making it a good choice for parents with children. The seclusion and shelter of Daymer Bay make it a great swimming spot; while nearby Broadagogue Cove and Greenaway Beach (between Daymer Bay and Polzeath) have interesting rock pools to explore.
Family days out by car include the Camel Creek Adventure Park in Wadebridge and Holywell Bay Fun Park in Newquay; both with rides, games and indoor play zones. At Old MacDonald’s Farm in Padstow (just a short ferry ride from Rock), children can feed and pet the animals, while the Screech Owl Sanctuary in St Columb has hand-tame owls, meerkats and raccoons to meet.
Older children will enjoy the challenge of surf school, with beginner courses offered in Polzeath. George’s Surf School teaches surfing from ages 4-16, with targeted classes offered for different ages and abilities. The FlowRider simulator at Retallack Resort near Padstow also makes a fun, safe learning environment for the over 5s as children master standing up (and staying up!). They also have a Wake Park and a brand new inflatable Aqua Park, which is open for children aged eight and over. For parents there is a bar, restaurant and spa.
After a busy day, return to the comfort of your holiday home. Our collection includes family-friendly options with secure gardens, children’s rooms, toys and essential equipment. If you’re travelling with a young one, we recommend Babes and Bikes: a local family business that will provide all the extra items you need and assemble them; meaning there’s no need to bring bulky items like cots and high chairs with you.
