Swimming

Swimming

Whether it’s first thing in the morning, during the heat of the day, or just as the sun sets, swimming is a fantastic way to relax.

Easy access to the water is one of the best things about holidays on the coast. As the rest of Cornwall wakes up, you could already be heading back from an invigorating early swim. Many of our houses are less than five minutes on foot from the water, with several being much closer. At Gentle Jane, you’ll even have your own private beach…

Beaches for swimming

The sheltered waters of Daymer Bay are great for swimming, while Rock Beach is another popular choice. Polzeath is one of the safest spots, with lifeguard cover from Easter to October (check the RNLI website for more information). Near Port Isaac, the shelter of Port Gaverne beach makes it popular with families, though it’s best to park in Port Isaac and take the short walk out to get there. If you’re feeling adventurous, try a wild swimming tour along the north coast between Port Gaverne and Port Isaac.

Houses with swimming pools

For an altogether more leisurely experience, hire a holiday house with its own swimming pool. Penquite House, Treglyddins and Half-Way Tree all feature private heated pools, which are available to use from May half term to September.
