Daymer Bay

Daymer Bay

Sitting between Rock and Polzeath, Daymer Bay is a coastal haven with a sloping beach, safe waters and rugged sand dunes.

On calm days, its shelter makes Daymer Bay a popular spot for swimming, while wind surfers and water sports enthusiasts flock here when the breeze gets up. The local area is also fantastic for walking; follow the cliff top paths or set out along the beach to Rock. The poet Sir John Betjeman famously loved this area, spending his later life in a house overlooking the dunes and being buried at nearby St Enodoc Church.

From Daymer Bay, it’s just a short stroll to both Rock and Polzeath, and to the St Enodoc Golf Club. The lesser-known Greenaway Beach, between Daymer and Polzeath, is ideal for rock pooling and makes a great place to sit with a picnic.

  • Climb Carn Brea Hill to take in the 360-degree views from its top.
  • Walk north to Trebetherick Point at the mouth of the estuary.
  • Spot the waves breaking on the legendary Doom Bar sandbar.
