Penquite House, a self-catering holiday house in Port Isaac, North Cornwall

Description

Penquite House is a beautiful fusion of traditional Cornish farmhouse and contemporary architect design. Located in a tranquil countryside setting, it's a short drive away from stunning beaches, fantastic surf spots and historic villages.

Throughout the house you'll spot many bespoke, handcrafted features and plenty of hidden gems. The old squire’s mounting block still stands outside, while beautiful stone fireplaces can be found within. Contemporary features include the dramatic gable end, double-height kitchen and dining area. This brings the outside in, opening out onto the terrace and swimming pool through large, bi-fold doors.

The downstairs social spaces are light, airy and fluid in design. The open-plan kitchen and dining area enjoy garden and poolside views, as well as a large central island and everything you could need for hosting a dinner party or relaxed family meal. The long dining table can seat up to 14 guests, offering plenty of space for entertaining.

Penquite House also has delightful cosy spaces for rest and relaxation. A snug with a log burner provides the ideal place for curling up with a good book or box set. The spacious lounge has vast comfortable seating and is centred around a stylish log burner. You'll also find a home theatre system, plenty of books and DVDs.

A bespoke staircase leads to a generously appointed master bedroom with a sumptuous slate bathroom and separate wet room. A further two bedrooms are found on the first floor, all decorated with calming tones and coastal-themed local artwork.

The outside spaces at Penquite are truly special. A large patio surrounds an outdoor heated pool, while there's also an outdoor shower decorated with bright mosaics. A large, sheltered garden has a lawn, mature trees and beautifully planted flower beds.

Charming and uniquely flexible, Penquite House is part of the Penquite collection, which includes Penquite Cottage and Penquite Annexe. When combined, all three properties can accommodate up to 16 guests, making this the perfect base for a special occasion or large family gathering.

Penquite Annexe

If you're visiting as a large group, or would like some extra space, you can also let Penquite Annexe in addition to the main house. The annexe is located opposite Penquite House and offers extra capacity for six people.

Penquite Annexe is a beautifully converted, lofty building with under floor heating and exposed A-frames. The annexe has the same high-end finishes as Penquite House and provides an additional two bedrooms.

Penquite Cottage

Guests also have the option to let Penquite Cottage, which sits within the same grounds as the house and annexe and sleeps a further four guests.

Please note: there are resident long-eared bats nearby and their stunning aerial displays can be seen at dusk. It is possible, if windows are left open, for the odd bat to make an appearance; although this is rare! We have been assured by the Bat Preservation Society that they are perfectly harmless.
