Description
Follow the quiet lane beside the village shop and you’ll soon arrive at Old Kea Cottage, a romantic retreat wrapped in roses and stillness. This hidden retreat feels far removed from the pace of everyday life, yet it’s only moments from Rock’s sailing waters and soft sandy shores. Here, past and present settle side by side. The original stone cottage now sits beside a beautiful wooden extension, its gentle lines clad in honeyed timber.
Inside, Old Kea Cottage feels like a story unfolding. Step onto cool slate flagstones, pass through rooms brushed in gentle yellow, and catch glimpses of old stonework and timeworn beams. There’s a feeling of permanence here, of quiet comfort. Two living spaces offer their own invitations: one intimate and ideal for slow, candlelit suppers; the other a generous fireside haven with a log burner tucked into the chimney breast and the old bread oven still in place.
Climb the quaint staircase where three bedrooms sit beneath beams and sloping ceilings; two dreamy doubles and a soft, inviting bunk room. Each one is finished with natural textures and linens in gentle tones that echo the surrounding landscape. Downstairs, the master bedroom is a restful space for slow mornings and early nights, with soft carpet underfoot and a sash window that opens to birdsong and breeze.
Outside, the garden feels like a natural extension of the house itself. A patch of lawn for stretching out, a sun-drenched terrace strung with festoon lights and a corner framed by climbing red roses. Two chairs sit side by side in a quiet nook, perfect for morning coffee or stargazing after the little ones are tucked in. A Big Green Egg barbecue promises leisurely lunches and smoky summer suppers, shared beneath starlit skies.
