Top ways to see in the New Year
With the end of the year fast approaching, now’s the time to start planning your New Year’s Eve celebrations. We have featured some of our favourite spots to celebrate here in North Cornwall.
The picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac has a lively atmosphere on New Year's Eve and popular with locals. Choose one of the local restaurants to start the evening with a delicious seafood dinner, such as The Mote. After dinner head to The Golden Lion and make the most of the live music. At midnight everyone spills outside to watch the firework display over the harbour.
At The Waterfront in Polzeath, New Year's Eve is a merry evening full of good food and live music. Start your night early enough and you can enjoy views of the sun setting over the ocean. Join in as everyone counts down the seconds and cheers as the clock chimes midnight.
Wrap up warm and board the passenger ferry from Rock to Padstow, the journey in itself is special as you sail past the bright lights that adorn the boats in the harbour. Once on the other side of the estuary, Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant offers a special New Year’s Eve menu, or join the merry locals in one of the harbourside pubs. Book a local taxi for the journey home.
The St Tudy Inn
With the fire lit and a cosy atmosphere, there is nowhere better to celebrate the start of the New Year than in a traditional Cornish pub. The St Tudy Inn offers delicious rustic cuisine, excellent cocktails and will have live music on New Year's Eve.
Get cosy by the roaring log fire and relax in this traditional Cornish pub. The St Kew Inn serves excellent locally sourced food and drink. Enjoy a glass or two and soak up the festive excitement.
