Dolphin House occupies a prime position on the picturesque Dolphin Street in the heart of the fishing village of Port Isaac. Here you can immerse yourself in village life and hop onto the South West Coastal Path, stretching out in both directions and taking in hidden bays and soaring clifftops.
With a whole host of independent cafes, shops, and art galleries to explore you can while away the day exploring the narrow streets lined with whitewashed cottages. Foodies will be in heaven here. Just minutes away are two restaurants by celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw; The Fish Kitchen and Restaurant Nathan Outlaw. The smell of freshly baked pasties from the village shops are also sure to tantalise the taste buds.
Those fond of a local tipple or two will be delighted with The Golden Lion (featured in Doc Martin and the Fisherman's Friends movie) and The Mote - two of the village's very best drinking establishments. Be sure to check out the hatch in the floor at The Golden Lion that was formerly a smugglers tunnel and leads to a sea cave in the harbour. In summer months, you might be lucky enough to catch a harbour performance by the Fisherman’s Friends, the local and now infamous, sea shanty group.
The lesser-known hamlet of Port Gaverne is within easy reach. Here, you can enjoy a beach day, spot dolphins and seals from the headland, and enjoy live music at the Pilchards Café . For those who enjoy being on or in the water, Cornish Rock Tors offer coasteering, kayaking, paddleboarding and wild swimming here. You can also easily hop on the South West Coast Path and explore some of the more scenic stretches of coastline in the UK, taking in hidden bays and picturesque villages.
Port Isaac is a fantastic base to explore the best that North Cornwall has to offer. You can be at the popular surfing beach of Polzeath in under fifteen minutes or the estuary village of Rock in twenty. Here you can partake in a number of watersports or hop on the ferry to explore the harbour town of Padstow. You are also in easy reach of Tintagel, home to the famous castle associated with the legends surrounding King Arthur. The Port Isaac Shuttle Service is on hand to take you further afield to explore if you’d rather not drive.
