Run across the sand, walk the footpaths, and settle down by the fire at the end of a busy day. Here, it’s your dog’s holiday too.
As pet lovers ourselves, we know it can be hard to leave faithful companions behind. When you stay with us, there’s no need – we have a range of fantastic dog-friendly houses to choose from.
Dog-friendly days out
Whatever the season, you’ll find plenty of activities for a dog-friendly holiday in North Cornwall. Rock Beach, Daymer Bay and Port Gaverne near Port Isaac welcome dogs all year round. Polzeath Beach is dog friendly all year with just a restriction between 15 May and 30 September where dogs are only allowed on the beach before 10am and after 6pm. Check the Visit Cornwall or the Cornwall Council website for a handy list of dog-friendly Cornish beaches.
Lots of local attractions are open to dogs on leads, including Tintagel Castle, Lanhydrock, the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway – an evocative steam train that travels through the countryside – welcomes dogs free on standard daytime trips.
Great local walks with dogs include the Camel Trail, Sir John Betjeman Walk and Saints Way from Padstow (both dogs and owners can ride on the ferry from Rock). Lots of local pubs and cafés are dog friendly, including the Rock Inn and Blue Tomato in Rock, The Tubestation and TJ's in Polzeath, and The Golden Lion in Port Isaac.
Doggy day care
If you'd like to explore parts of Cornwall without your four-legged friend, you can leave them in the safe hands of local company Homeward Boundz who offer doggy day care, dog walking and boarding. Whether you want to give your dog a fun time for just an hour, or need care for a full day, they can help.
Our team are a little dog-mad themselves, so if you fancy a last-minute dinner out and would like someone to dog-sit, please give the office a call: we may be able to help.
