Get on the water with a sailing or water-skiing lesson or head out on a sea safari to spot local sea life. Alternatively, catch the ferry across to Padstow, where you can explore the harbour and sample Rick Stein’s famous fish and chips.
If you enjoy the waves, Polzeath is just a five to ten-minute drive away. Here you can hire wetsuits and boards and improve your technique with a lesson from one of the many high-quality surf schools based on the beach. In between Polzeath and Rock, discover the family beach of Daymer Bay and explore Brea Hill and the picturesque St Enodoc Church.
From The Gate House, you’re also within easy reach of the vibrant estuary town of Wadebridge. For a relaxed day out, browse the range of fantastic independent shops, catch a film or hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail. Here, you are also within easy reach of an array of Cornish country pubs. The St Kew Inn is well worth a visit for a family lunch in the beer garden or a cosy supper beside the fire.
