Hidden places - Greenaway Beach

Deliciously sandwiched between Daymer Bay and Polzeath and only accessible via the South West Coast Path, Greenaway Beach is a wonderful discovery where picnics, rock pooling and hunting for cowrie shells are high on the agenda.

The location

Greenaway Beach is around a ten-minute walk from Polzeath or Daymer Bay. It is accessed via a steep set of stone steps just off the South West Coast Path. With no parking or amenities, it is a lovely quiet spot most of the year round.

The coast path

The coastal path either side of Greenaway Beach is one of the most scenic stretches around and is relatively flat for walking. In spring and summer months it comes alive with a blanket of coastal flowers. You can watch boats come and go from the mouth of the Camel Estuary and if you are lucky, spot seals and dolphins along the way.

The beach

This sheltered beach is a coarse sand and shingle beach with a labyrinth of rock pools exposed at low tide. Children will love rock pooling, hunting for shells and finding the shipwreck, exposed on the far side of the beach. Greenaway Beach is dog-friendly all year round, so the perfect dog walking spot for those staying nearby.
